Ground Hog Resolution Review Day: 5
Firstly, whatever happened to resolution day 4? I think it got lost in the mists of wedding planning (11 days left!)
Anyway – here’s an amalgamation of the two months together…
- Start selling my photography
I have an opportunity to put forward a group of photos for a print run on canvases and on paper. I’ve yet to decide which to put forward – which do you think? Leave a comment here or on FriendFeed (now the biggest traffic provider for the blog, after Google and Bookmarks)
- Contribute more to the community
Hmmm, well I did attend one photowalk – the WWT shoot on April 12th. I even got all excited and rented a EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lens for the weekend (I also shot the photo on the right of Stonehenge). Also I participated fully (I think I double posted one day I have 31 shots in the set rather than 30…) in the 2008 April challenge rumours are there is even going to be a book! Lastly, one of my shots (at the top became almost meme like and was used in the Londonist - it’s since become the biggest hit photo of mine so far!
- Get my best shots up on this site
I posted one a day most of the time – and this has been increasing this week. I’ve increased the number visible on the home page and more importantly now I’m using SmugMug as the main sharing site (as well as Flickr, iPernity and Zooomr in that order) I’ve bumped the main page size up from 500px wide to 800. If you click through to SmugMug you can see them up to 1600px wide (I might even get round to some screen width checking and bump up the size on the site…)
- Write testimonials for other photographers on this site
Graded: F–. I might cull this if I don’t get to post at least one this month. I hang my head in shame.
- Shoot more Portraits
I have a few to go up which you’ll see in the coming days. I might get one of them printed to I like it so much!
As for this year so far? Well I’ve been playing with Google Charts API so I can bring you a state of play on a monthly and week by week basis – so here are the Week and Month ones so far – expect them to be part of the post from now on. The scary thing? look at the “To process” bars. Oh dear. Also I hope to bring down the number of deleted per shoot, its getting to be a large percentage. I shall post an article on my process soon as well so these will become clear, just as Neil Creek has before on Brian Auer’s EpicEdits.

(Oh and if you’re wondering in week 16 I shot 600 shots in 20 minutes on a boat trip (only a couple of which have been processed (so lazy) and then followed that with the 500 odd at the weekend at the WWT)
So for May, well expect a lot of shots from the Maldives at the end of the month – and a daily posting from the archives while I’m away!
And finally – guess what I’ve just spotted 15,000 views on the flickr account!
