Versioning your software
How do you give a release number for your software?
Well you could do a Google and just leave it at Beta for years, which would be nice, but in all seriousness there is a simple method….
Major.Minor.EmergencyRelease
For instance 1.5.1 means first major release, 5th minor release and with an emergency (critical) update.
Little do they know it but my team are going to follow this from now on.
For more info see this post (which also goes through the process and more). Thanks to theArtofService for their 8th May podcast.
