Getting closer to a better Zooomr
Back just over a month ago I wrote about the grumbles I have with Zooomr
In short…
- EXIF data - including the ability to retrospectively place data on broken photos
- Faving from thumbnails - just as in Mk2
- More than 12 sets visible
- Recent Activity
- Photo Security - I don’t want people to be able to download my work, and a simple addiiton to the photo URL and they can.
Now we’re up to three out of five being fixed (although I had to switch from Picasa to Lightroom to get EXIF working, so that’s not Zooomr’s fault.)
Also Kris has fixed the IE bug whereby a Geotagged photo would crash IE6, meaning a lot of the audience was given a Page Cannot be Displayed was shown. which is awesome.
However the security issue is still there (I don’t want to tell you all what it is, but anyone can access my original files, which I believe I should be able to opt out of.) Also I would love the fave buttons back on square view.
As for the other updates? Zipfox is useable, and its obvious that the Japanese investment has meant a focus on mobile photography over there, I’m quite jealous about being able to geotag on the fly (however I’m not sure I would upload much by mobile, even if I used the normal interface to upload this shot from my MDA*) hopefully with this project out of the get we’ll return to a more global bugfix / feature release including all of these Mark 3 features that have disappeared from the launch….
