Mathias Pastwa

Mathias has a gorgeous zest to his photography. By zest I mean the colour he sees in every day things the veluptious saturation of the photo to the right proves this wonderfully.

I hope that if I get the chance to visit his native Hamburg that the colour of the city is as vibrant as in Mathias’ photos. I don’t know if it’s the post pro that does it for me, the camera or simply Mathias’ eye for what he sees. How gorgeous are these simple blades?

Simplicity sometimes rules his photogaphy - such as these escalator steps in Essen (right) and the green lockers (left).

Mathias doesn’t shoot with blinkers on, he uses film, digital, mono and vibrant colour - portaiture and architecture. I emplore you to go and tlook through his Flickr stream and go out and shoot - you’ll never shoot the same again.

My latest shots in Heron Quay have been shot to look like Mathias Hamburg shots - and to that I thank him for his influence.
