Turns out I’ve been pretty rubbish at this, it’s almost as if I got married and have been busy at work. I know no excuse but ho hum. Here’s an update.

  1. Start selling my photography
RED DLRI haven’t started yet, but its getting closer to the runway. This month saw the first shot to pass 1000 views on Flickr: RED DLR. So it’ll be the first to go up on a limited run, all I need to do is figure out the numbers, the sizes, the geographies oh and the prices. Not easy. Still I’m not sure whether to tweak the photo further before printing, I’m not happy with the shadow of the building, I may even re-shoot it for sharpness…
  2. Contribute more to the community
It’s been pretty quiet on this front. although I’ve been playing with lenses (I now own a 135mm f2L prime) I haven’t been out shooting with anyone but dad recently. But in August that will change as I have three photowalks in London to attend (one of them I’m kinda hosting too!)

  3. Get my best shots up on this site
Phill Price - FriendFeedThe home page has been bumped up a notch in terms of size, and my posting rate is still 1 a day. The problem I have is that they are goign up everywhere. SmugMug, here, Flickr, iPernity, Zooomr and friendfeed. Well by friendfeed I mean they are pulled through from those services, which causes a great echo. As someone who absolutely despises reading people posting to twitter, plurk, tumblr etc on friendfeed this is a hard pill for me to swallow. Should I cut down what I filter through? Are they even used (only Flickr has stats and they are used) should I simply link through to here? Would that mean lost clicks to fave on people’s preferred site. Grrr what a conundrum. Comment please!
  4. Shoot more Portraits
The September challenge is not far away – and this time its got more structure, and even better the oppurtunity to win stuff! Full throttle for this time, chocks away!
  5. AOB
I’m not happy with the theme here, specifically I’m not happy with the photo hosting – all the eggs are in one basket and even amazon goes down. Secondly I need to expand on pushing contact options, feeds, email subscriptions (see the bottom of the site) and other bits and pieces so I’m going to work on that.
Also I need to get into organising my online photos better. I never really got round to following the Epic Edits post about Flickr organisation and I should.
Lastly I have to talk about backup. I got home on Monday night, fired up Lightroom and left it crunching through a full card (900 shots – I found AEB on the 400D and was playing, and also with panoramas of Beachy Head which are yet to come). In the morning the iMac was off. I’m not sure if it was a power cut or what but Lightroom couldn’t open or repair the catalogue, and I’d been skipping the backup button since July the 14th, thats three weeks of stuff down the drain. Until the evening when I remembered Mozy, and within 20 minutes it was back! So +1 for Mozy!
