Raoul Pop has just posted that he’s closed the gate on Zooomr. I really respect Raoul, there have been times where I’ve taken photos specifically to show him as I know they are the kind of things he’d like*. I can’t say I blame him - I have also wondered what the push is on the mobile site when I can’t have

I like this partly because of the cool green arrows, but mainly because it adds another dimension to the zipline chat in that you can reply inline. This beats the normal @username items put together on Twitter and is much better visually than the twitter threaded replies in my opinion.

flickr vs. Zooomr
The battle of the titans, or rather David and Goliath. But will this have the same ending.
I first had a flickr account in 2005 (Feb 14th to be precise, or at least that’s my first upload (see left). It was the start of a new generation - and the first service I paid for on the internet, rather than a product. I’ve watched it

- Marketplace - start tagging your photos with a price, and await the store front opening later this year, with only 10% going to Zooomr (as opposed to the high rates for iStockPhoto etc)
